Visian ICL

The Visian ICL is designed for patients who are not LASIK Candidates due to being a high myopia or to thin corneas. The Visian ICL also called the (Implantable Collamer Lens is an implantable contact lens that is ideal for patients between the ages of 21 and 45 years. Patients who are suffering from nearsightedness (myopia) and want to attain clear vision without eyeglasses or regular contact lenses, Visian ICL could be right for you. With your safety in mind and for best results we like our patients to not have a history of Ophthalmic surgery or diseases such as iritis, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy. After our doctor does a proper eye exam and evaluates your vision history it will be determined if Visian ICL is right for you.

What happens during Visian ICL Surgery?

The Visian ICL treatment starts one to two weeks before your procedure takes place, as your doctor will perform a YAG laser iridotomy. In the preliminary procedure your doctor will create one or two small incisions within the iris, the color part of the eye, to allow fluid to circulate and to prevent buildup of intraocular pressure during the actual procedure. On the date of your Visian ICL Procedure, your doctor will numb the eye with an anesthetic before making an opening in the cornea to position and insert the lense. During the procedure a gel like substance will be used to protect the eye while the lens is being placed. Sutures are not always needed because of the incision size is extremely small. After it is all said and done eye drops will be applied to hinder infection and inflammation during the recovery stage. An eye patch or shield could be used to further protect and comfort the eye after the procedure. The Recovery process is rather quick as most patients only need a day or two. After that noticeable vision improvement will occur almost right away and you will begin to enjoy your life with your new vision!

Visian ICL Advantages

Technologically Advanced Lens Material

Unlike other phakic IOLs, the Visian ICL is made from Collamer, a technologically advanced lens material exclusive to STAAR Surgical Company.

Exceptional Patient Experience

Simple, Safe & Invisible Lens

Because the Visian ICL is implanted in the posterior chamber, behind the iris, unlike other phakic IOLs, the lens is invisible to both the patient and any observer. Also, its positioning in the eye maintains normal iris function, promotes stability, and may reduce potential complications.

The “Wow” Factor

After the simple 15-minute outpatient procedure, patients experience an immediate improvement in vision quality and are “Wowed” by the results.

Short Recovery Time

The recovery time for the Visian ICL is very quick and comfortable, and may be as little as a day, due to the very small size of the incision required. The incision needed to implant the foldable Visian ICL is tiny and located on the far edge of the cornea, where there is little danger of it interfering with vision.
